When
choosing the name for the first dress in the collection, one
name had to be at the top of the list. Iona's history
is steeped in Celtic culture, even prior to St.Columba landing
on the island with 12 companions in the year 563. It is believed
that at least part of the beautiful "Book of Kells"
was kept on the island up until 849, before being sent to
Kells in Ireland.
Capturing the simple but elegant designs from medieval Britain,
Iona is made from beautiful pure silk crepe de chine,
trimmed with gold thread Celtic knotwork embroidery around
the neckline, sleeves and belt.
As with all the dresses within the Celtic
Spirit Collection, Iona is available in a range of
variations. Here we show two of our favourite styles.
On this page, Iona A, is made
from beautiful silk sandwashed crepe, with full flared sleeves.
The dress is laced up the back with gold ribbon.
For the
softer, more romantic look, Iona
B, with chiffon sleeves and gold edged overskirt
should be considered.
