Made to Measure:
Clients who can visit our studio and take advantage of our made-to-measure service, will be impressed by the level of support and advice offered by our designers, from the first consultation through to the final fitting. Please take a moment to read through the following:
The made-to-measure process, step by step
On your first visit you will be able to thoroughly discuss your requirements with a designer who will also detail out the services Lindsay Fleming can offer. If necessary we will produce a sketch of your dream dress from the information you supply. We stock one dress from each of our styles, and these will be available for you to try on at your leisure. Your initial consultation would be free of charge and you should expect this to take anything up to two hours to complete. If you decide to choose a Lindsay Fleming dress, you will be given a fixed price for the order. Please be sure to check what is and is not included in the price.
Once the design has been finalised, the fabric chosen, and embroidery defined, you may visit us again to have your measurements taken. This however, may have already been done during your initial consultation.
The next stage of the made-to-measure process will involve us making a pattern followed by a 'toile' or 'mock-up' to your own measurements. Once this has been done we would ask you to visit to make sure that the toile is a perfect fit.
Only once your toile is a perfect fit, would the creation of your dress begin. This may take several weeks or months of elapsed time, during which you will be asked to visit for a number of fittings. The normal is two or three, however this cannot be guaranteed as each dress is unique and may have it's own idiosyncrasies.
Finally, when your dress is ready for collection you will visit for your 'final fitting'. However, on occasions we will require to make slight alterations in order that the dress is a perfect fit. This may therefore result in yet another visit before the dress is ready for collection.
Timing of each step
Initial consultation / ordering. We suggest that you consider contacting us no later than six months before your wedding. However, this can change depending on the time of year, therefore you should always be prepared to contact us as early as possible.
Measurements. We would prefer to take your measurements no more than six months before the wedding to reduce the effect of any weight gain/loss.
Fitting the toile. Around four months before your wedding we would ask you to visit to try on your toile.
Fittings. Depending on the number of fittings required, these would start about one month after your toile fitting.
Final fitting. In a perfect world this would take place four weeks before your wedding. However this can vary greatly due to your own circumstances.
